I've always wondered what would be the best thing to do on World AIDS Day. Should we see it as a time to get together, albeit with purpose, and just get together? Should we be rallying together in the streets and making noise in front of parliaments? Or should we just forget it all together because it does not make a difference?

I have my own ideas but I'm interested in knowing what others think...

Why do we all come together on just one day a year? Shouldn't we be campaigning on HIV and AIDS every day???

Yeah, and who pays? Do you realise how much money it takes to mobilise? And how about media coverage? Remember, there are a thousand other good causes out there who crave and need as much attention as we do.

No, I still think there is value in one day, but, like I said, I have other ideas on how we might want to do it ;)

Wait, let me add one thing. You did say 'campaign'. In that aspect I do agree. We need to campaign year round. But there is still value in a single focus day.

The world aids day in my understanding is an anniversary day in which we commemorate our beloved ones that died of Aids and find our way foward having reflected on the past.Hence it should be intact and adhered to.It is through this event that our strength to combat Hiv/Aids is regenerated to run for another full year.If we implemented such events everyday then it 'll become a daily routine and loose value.Besides,it is not this massive event that 'll reform the world against aids, but the inner person,s sense of belonging to the fight.Hence there's need to focus our output on behaviour change.

Hi Mr progay,
I saw your message about the pink festival in davao city on the wolrd aids day and, may i say it is such a wholesome idea of your organisation, you and the entire philipines not to miss such a massive event.May i let you know that philipine films are inevitably gaining popularity in Zambia with the introduction of "The promise" and "When you are Mine".60 percent of lusaka city population is glued to TV stations that televise Philipine films.May i know other activities that ''ll take place on that day apart from filming itself, more you as you, what role are you playing on that day in celebrating the event. I cant wait to hear more and more about the whole event.

Kind Regards,
Godfrey,Zambia.

This would actually be a good idea for Geneva also!! I bet it would grab the attention of the 'internationals' here. Hmmm??? Might actually be a good festival to have during the gay pride parade in the spring.
