My name is Jony, I am from Jerusalem Israel, and for the past four and a half years I have been HIV positive. When the disease was diagnosed I was in critical condition and there was no hope for me. I was hospitalized in very bad straits, but thanks to the devoted and tireless treatment by doctors and the support and love of my family, my health improved considerably.
When I was discharged from hospital I looked on the Internet, on sites in Hebrew, and I found out that people were dying of Aids. I panicked, shut down the computer and for a number of weeks did not go near it again. When I recovered from the shock I vowed that I would build the biggest site in the world, whose purpose would be to help people at the beginning of the road by providing them with as much information as possible.
About six months later I opened an Internet site called “Living with AIDS”, http://www.israelpositive.com which provides information in five languages: Hebrew, Arabic, English, Russian and Spanish. The information pages in Hebrew and English are read in enormous quantities and the site is accessed from everywhere in the world. To illustrate, I will tell you that during the past year the site was visited by 810,000 from 225 different countries throughout the world, with 50% of those viewing in foreign languages, the most prominent of which is Arabic.
During my work on the site and as part of my battle with the Aids virus, I elected to write songs, thus expressing my feelings in a way that is different from the writing that I use all year long. I have written six songs in Hebrew, and one, the one that touched me most, and in my opinion will touch most of the people in Israel and in the world, I decided to translate into English.
The name of the song is: “The Stigma Song”. You can read here the words of the song
The Stigma Song
No one is to blame because I’m just the same
As the people you meet when you walk down the street
We all have a purpose, a life to fulfill
Though some may be healthy and some may be ill
The trouble that hides in me couldn’t be worse
The illness inside me is more like a curse
For I have a virus and AIDS is its name
But don’t turn away from me, I’m not to blame
There are viruses, illnesses, cancers, disease
That can wrestle the strongest of men to his knees
But of all the diseases that cut short one’s life
Only AIDS has a stigma that cuts like a knife
No, don’t turn away from him, don’t try to hide
From the person who suffers this sickness inside
No, don’t turn away for the sake of a name
For you know, deep inside, we are all just the same
And always remember that though this is true
It doesn’t make me less a person than you
So try to be loving and don’t criticise
Though the stigma may burn in society’s eyes
Yes, the virus may be in the blood in my veins
But I’m just like you, we’re all just the same
I’m still the same person I was yesterday
So next time you see me, please don’t turn away
Remember there’s no one this virus ignores
Though you’ve locked up your houses and bolted the doors
Remember the powerful key that you hold
That opens the heart and brings hope to the soul
No, don’t turn away, be a friend, understand
No matter what happens a man’s still a man
And I call from the heart that beats deep in my breast
Be loving and patient and look for the best
and you can listen to it while download it from this link:
A few words about the song:
The Aids stigma is known as something that causes us, all HIV carriers around the world, to close ourselves up and to hide, and not to expose ourselves. The Aids stigma in fact causes us all to hide behind a mask, in contrast with all other people sick with other diseases. The Aids stigma puts the Aids carriers in a bad place, ostracizing them from society.
My song speaks of the fact that the Aids carrier is a person that equal among equals and not different among equals. The Aids carrier needs a hug and love and needs to be treated like all other people, and not as a stranger, as one thrown out into the street.
A number of people worked on the production of this song, people who volunteered for this mission, and you can see their names on the download page, which was entirely produced with volunteer work and with love.
My sister, who looks after me, a very good friend of hers who took on the song as her own personal project (the friend is a singer), she wrote lyrics to the song, took it to a recording studio, the singer who volunteered to sing it and connected to every single word in the song, and in fact each of the, in his/her own way, contributed al they could in order to pass on my message of wanting a hug and not ostracism.
The message calling for the shattering of the Aids stigma goes from here, Jerusalem, to the entire world. I would be grateful if you could dare to distribute this message and in this way, maybe through one song, which we shall ensure is heard in every corner of the globe, we shall finally manage to shatter the Aids stigma.
I will sign this letter with my nickname, Jony Jerusalem and I hope that some time I will sign in my real name
If some one wish the singer to sing anywhere in the world, she and I will be happy to be invited anywhere to sing the song and bring hope to the entire world
Thank you
Jony Jerusalem

I have sent this morning a pack with letter and a disk of the Stigma song to the United Nations to Mr. Anan via the Israely Ambasador.
I have asked the Israely Ambasador to give Mr. Anan the disk and tell him that we hope the smasing of the stigma will start from the heart of the world - Jerusalem
I hope he will give him the disk - i sent it in fast mail
And from here I call every one to give people the link to the page of the song that in my site so as many people in the world can listen to the song and see the light in the end of the tunnel

I have got an answer from one of the channels of tv that have program that invite people and singers (i do not remember how it is called in english) and they told me that they get alot of people that suggest them things to the programs and she said she is not shure it is so important to the community this song so - what she ment is that this song is not so important to people and there are many more things important
so - they will not invite us to non of the 2 programs of them
when i heard this it make me more closer to shut every thing down, stop doing any thing because in israel 2005 when a personal do some thing to the community they throw him away
i never felt so bad since i became hiv pos and think that this aids day will be my last aids day in israel - i will look from now to the world that apprichate work and not to the israely people that not

Hey, Jony. Sorry to hear about that. If it's any consolation, I go through this all the time with films about AIDS. On the one hand television stations claim they want to support AIDS and then when you give them a film about it they suddenly forget. But rather than making me give up, it gives me the energy to prove them wrong!!!!!! I would consider writing to a newspaper that is not affiliated with the station and telling them. They may publish an article about it. Grrrrr.

But my eyes will be now to the world and not to the people of my country.
I belive in what i do - in the forum i administrate with a doctor and in my site people love me but you will not belive - the israely task aids organization that do not love my way of doing and not resting - help to destroy every thing
