When you donate blood you are also tested for A.I.D.S.If you are engaged in behavior that disqualifies you from donating blood, you can still request an A.I.D.S, test.
Blood donation provides testing on a regular basis that more than pays for itself.A.I.D.S. testing under the guise of qualifying to donate blood ,would be a socially acceptable way to find out your status. There numerous other reasons to be unable to donate blood.Participants could claim it was one the other reasons and eat healthier and exercise to further the ruse.
Ideally the day will come when there is no stigma in A.I.D.S. testing, but until that day, donating blood or pretending to try to donate blood could offer a safe alternative way to be tested.

Great point with a caveat. Locally, the Red Cross used this as a marketing ploy. According to the local chapter director it backfired, however. Her thinking is that many who would normally donate blood were 'turned off' by the AIDS insinuation. She was, in any case, told this informally by a few who did come and told her that others that would normally accompany them had opted out. Maybe, therefore, there is another way of formulating it?

Over here in the U.S.A. most people won't even talk about using blood donation as a means of testing. This is despite chronic blood shortages. They have no problem promoting facist mandatory testing.Or they claim current anonymous testing procedures are adequate. If you are healthy and go to a doctor, it will cause concern or suspicion. However ,if blood donations couldn't be used for covert A.I.D.S. testing, perhaps more frequent routine check ups could.
