Dear Forum Members,
On 05/05/08 I went to NACO to submit an application under RTI Act.
The harassment started when I wanted to submit the application fee of Rs. 10/- in CASH. The RTI Section staffs refused to accept the fee in cash, but they were ready to accept the same by Bank Draft or by Postal Order.
Although, the provision of submission the fee in cash is there according to RTI Act and those staffs accepted the same from me twice earlier. When I asked them about their earlier acceptance, once they answered that they have done by mistake and again when reminded them about the provision to submit the application fee in cash is there according to RTI Act, then straightway they told that they have got some directive from higher authority not to accept the application fee in cash.
But, afterward when they felt that I was not to leave NACO office without submission the same in cash, then some of them suggested me to sort out the matter with Chief Public Information Officer and Finance Director of NACO Mr. S. Suresh Kumar.
I am really grateful to Mr. S.Suresh Kumar as he instantly accepted the same in cash, but with out any proper money receipt.
So, in this regard I would like to request Director General and Chief Public Information Officer of NACO to maintain a proper system to accept any fee under the provision of R.T.I. Act and to direct the staffs not to harass or refuse Any Citizen just to minimise their work for which they are being paid from Public Money to serve the Public by the name of Bank Draft or Postal Order which causes excess expenditure for the service Charges to Bank or Postal department along with wastage of time.
Thanking you,
In solidarity,
